Effect of Pachyrrhizus erosus urban seed extracts against tobacco caterpillar, Spodoptera litura F.

Insecticidal principles of Pachyrrhizus erosus seeds did not show any fumigant effect against tobacco caterpillar, whereas higher mortality to the 3rd instar larvae in petridishes was achieved in 15 minutes exposure by contact on acetone extract. Rotenoid oil (2-4 percent) solution and 10 percent acetone solution containing 20 percent extract from the seeds were effective against the pest.
