Voluntary guidelines for securing sustainable small-scale fisheries in the context of food security and poverty eradication

These Guidelines represent a user friendly version of the already published product. This is the first internationally agreed instrument devoted entirely to the small-scale fisheries sector, which is enormously important but has so far often been postponed. The small-scale fisheries sector tends to be firmly rooted in local communities, traditions and values. Many small-scale fishers are self-employed and usually supply fish for direct consumption in their homes or communities. The objective of this second edition is to have a tool for training, with a simple design, to inform and promote the PPE Guidelines, which were adopted by the member countries of FAO, in order to achieve the sustainability of fishing in small scale in the context of food security and the eradication of poverty.
