This publication on pig selection in Southeast Asia is based on the scientific papers and country reports given at a regional workshop held in Nanjing Agricultural University, Nanjing, China from 29 Nov to 8 Dec 1989. 9 scientific papers on genetics, breeding, selection, open nucleus breeding system (ONBS) and application of biotechnologies in pigs, and country reports from China (2 provinces0, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam were presented and are reproduced in these proceedings. The problem tree and objective tree pertaining to pig breeding and selection in Southeast Asia and China, and the recommendations adopted by the workshop are presented in the final chapter of the proceedings.
