Causes of confiscation are described in Uruguay based on the data obtained during the period 1 November 1977/30 April 1979, on a total 4.198.334 poultry slaughtered in packing plants and assigned for human consumption. The purpose of the study was to safeguard Public Health. Results indicate the following percentages of confiscation in the three categories: No animals % confiscation Broiler chicken 3.942.537 Hens 254.073 Cocks 1.724
