A note on prediction of response to artificial selection with indices of unequal information

A method is proposed to predict response when the candidates for selection are evaluated using different amounts of information and to take into account the correlation among the estimated breeding values. The response is predicted as iνI*- 1 2 νAI* where i is the intensity of selection, νi* is the mean of the diagonal elements of the covariance matrix of the breeding value estimates minus the mean of the off-diagonal elements, and νAI* is the mean of the diagonal elements of the covariance matrix between breeding values and its estimates minus the mean of the off diagonal elements. © 1991.
