Segregation in gas fluidized beds; mixing index for solids of type D

The mixing index M has been used to show the degree of mixing and the degree of segregation in a gas-fluidized bed of particulate solids of type D. The range of applicability of this parameter was studied for three binary mixtures of particulate solids of different densities and different compositions, with various gas rates. As a function of the operating conditions of the system for large particles of type D, an empirical equation is presented for the estimation of M. (Authors)
