Method of permanent preservation of cephalopod sperm

[EN] The present invention claims a method for long-tenn preservation of cephalopod spenn by means of the cryopreservation of the spennatophores and spennatangia thereof. Cryopreservation is obtained by means of the use of optimum protocols for incorporation and elimination of penneable cryoprotectants (alcohols, sulphoxides and fonnamides in aqueous solution), and suitable freezing and thawing gradients. The method described herein is of great use in the rearing, in captivity, of cephalopod species of commercial interest, in the preservation of species in danger of extinction and in research for developing in vitro cephalopod fertilization techniques
