APFIC Strategic Plan 2012-2018

The FAO Constitution provides that the Organization shall collect, analyze, interpret and disseminate information relating to nutrition, food and agriculture. The term "agriculture" in the FAO Constitution includes fisheries and marine products. Thus APFIC has a clear mandate to support and encourage the emergence of bilateral, trilateral and other arrangements for the effective management of fisheries amongst its member countries, and particularly within its geographical area of competence. APFIC is charged with the information needs relating to fisheries and aquaculture in those countries which form its membership and the geographic area of competence.
