Politicas publicas e apoido institucional à agricultura familiar no Brasil : agroecologia e estratégias de desenvolvimento rural
The authors analyse the main ideas that contributed towards the designing of a development strategy for rural Brazil, coordinated by Sustainable Rural Development National Council (CNDRS). After that, they consider an agro-ecological development model, based on intensification of land use, instead of labour intensification, and on the autonomy of family agriculture. For the authors, the first results of social experiments now in progress justify the hypothesis that it is possible to devise original strategies for rural development. These strategies challenge the idea of an inevitable reduction of agricultural population.
