Para el control de las plagas y enfermedades del café, se debe contar con un sistema que tome en cuenta la complejidad del ambiente del cultivo y la dinámica de la población de las plagas, así como el grado de infección de las enfermedades, con el fin de establecer un control a nivel económico. Se explica, incluyendo el control químico y cultural las siguientes plagas y enfermedades del cafeto: minador de la hoja (Leucoptera coffeella), la broca del fruto (Hypothenemus hampei, Ferr. 1867), la roya (Hemileia vastatrix), cercospora (Cercospora coffeicola) y nemátodos (Pratylenchus coffeae y Meloidogyne spp.)
