Studies on phosphorus fixation and release in coffee growing oxisols

A laboratory investigation was made to study the fixation and release of 32p labelled KH2PO4 in a coffee growing oxisol of Karnataka in presence of certain soil amendments at different incubation periods. The per cent recovery of applied P in 0.01M CaCl2 and Bray-1 extractants decreased with increased period of contact with soil. About 70 to 80 per cent of applied P could not be recovered from the soil by sequential extraction up to 21 days of incubation. Application of sodium citrate to soil gave higher recovery of applied P than CaCO3 and FYM by both the extractants
