Alteraçoes quimicas em solo de cerrado cultivado com café

The changes of the chemical properties of soil samples collected from a fertilizing experimental coffee field were studied. The soil was a Red Yellow Latossol of Batatais, Sao Paulo, Brazil, on which coffee was grown for thirteen years, with several fertilizer treatments including combinations of NPK, lime, animal manure and micronutrients zinc and boron. The application of dolomitic lime promoted some increase of soil organic matter and the addition of zinc and boron further increased the gain of organic matter. The application of dolomitic limestone improved the chemical characteristics of the soil more than manure. The application of mineral fertilizers containing NPK reduced exchangeable cations and increased hydrogen and aluminium contents when compared with limestone treatments. Due to mechanical clearing of the soil from underneath the crowns, before harvesting, fertilizers applied as dressings under the crowns of the plants were found to spread laterally with the exception of potassium which was found concentrated under the crowns of the plants
