Epoca viavel da aplicaçao de arbusticida, apos a recepa de caféeiros (Coffea arabica L.) para su erradicaçao

Three field trials were carried out for eradication of coffee brushes by applications of arbusticides to the out stumps of the brushes. Two trials were carried out in 1972 in Galia, SP and the third was carried out in 1973 in Itu, SP. The brushes were out back to a height of 0,4 metres from ground level and arbusticide treatment consisted of a mixture of 350g per litre of the iso-octyl ester of 2,4,5 trichlorophenoxyacetic acid and 130g per litre of the iso-octyl ester of 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid dissolved in 3 percent diesel oil. The mixture was painted on to out surfaces of the trunks of the brushes either immediately after cutting of periods of 5, 10, 20 or 30 days after cutting. The trials were carried out in both the dry and rainy seasons. Observations on re-shooting showed that treatment immediately after cutting, as is the normal practice, was not necessary for control of re-growth, since 100 percent death of brushes resulted even when treatment was carried out up to 30 days after cutting the brushes in either the wet or dry seasons
