Armazenamento de amendoas de cacau em sacos plásticos, observacoes preliminares

A qualitative test was set up to observe the effect of storage of cacao beans in polyethylene bags as a substitute for the traditional jute saks. The beans were harvested and stored normally at the Filogonio Peixoto Experimental Station (Linhares, Espírito Santo, Brazil) of CEPLAC. After 16 months of storage the cacao beans were grade as Superior (Type I) for exportation, as no relevant variations of the official classification parameters were observed. In contrast, the cacao beans in jute sacks suffered insect damage and therefore were downgraded. No conclusive results are presented as the pertinent data were obtained form an incomplete experimental model
