Tabelas etárias dos polinizadores do cacaueiro Forcipomyia spp. (Diptera, Ceratopogonidae) em condicoes de laboratorio

The life table technique was used for evaluating survival of Forcipomyia spp. in laboratory conditions. "Hernandez' midge-rearing method" is breafly described. Results indicated that life tables technique is useful for evaluation survival of the insects in the laboratory. Mortalities above 95 per cent were observed in the adult stage. Eggs, with the only exception of the ones of F. (Microhelea) fuliginosa Meigen, suffered mortalities which varied between 50 and 86 per cent. The egg mortality for fuliginosa was 100 per cent. It was consequently concluded that the rearing method should be improved for those egg and adult stages, to allow efficient mass rearing in the laboratory
