The technique of blowing air over the flowers of the self-compatible variety Comum of Theobroma cacao to induce mechanical pollination nearly doubled the yield in relation to untreated plots. The net benefit computed was equivalent to 100 per cent, aproximately, of the treatment costs. It was concluded that the technique is rentable in field conditions
