Eunica alpais (Nymphalidae) a new species for the diurnal moth fauna of Costa Rica

The presence of Eunica alpais in Costa Rica is briefly discussed, including biology, morphology and geographic distribution. The pest was first collected in 1981 and it was the first collection of the nymphalid above the Amazon region. Females oviposited in various tree species from the Burseraceae and Euphorbiaceae families and inhabited the crown of the trees.
