Local government and biodiversity conservation: a case from the Bolivian Lowlands. A case study for shifting the power: decentralization and biodiversity conservation
This is one of six case studies undertaken as research for Shifting the Power: Decentralization and Biodiversity Conservation, a study designed to answer the questions: How does decentralization of decision making and management authority affect biodiversity conservation? Does decentralization put the power to freely manage natural resources in the hands of people living in most direct contact with these resources? Once empowered, do local stewards of natural resources take action that is supportive of conservation?
