A multiple layer ground water model (MODFLOW) was set up on the IBM PC model 80 at the Direction de la R6gion Hydraulique de Tensift in Marrakech. The theory and operation of this model was described to the hydrogeologists; as an example an experimental model was set up covering 660Km2 of the northern part of the project area. In cooperation with the Consultant in Hydrogeology and the staff in Marrakech a nodal network was designed for the regional ground water model which covers the Sahel and the Doukkala Plain. This will be used to provide an insight into the hydrogeology and hydrology of the area and to provide data for the more detailed Sahel and coastal fringe models.
