Florula of the mountain pine forest Podocarpus parlatorei (Gymnospermae, Podocarpaceae) in the Medina range (Tucumán, Argentina)

Perea, M. C.; J. Carrizo, A. C. Slanis and A. Würschmidt. 2008. “Florula of the mountain pine forest Podocarpus parlatorei (Gymnospermae, Podocarpaceae) in the Medina range (Tucumán, Argentina)”. Lilloa 45 (1-2). Podocarpus parlatorei Pilg. (Gymnospermae, Podocarpaceae) is a species endemic to the montane forests of the Southern Yungas (Cabrera, 1971). In Argentina, are distributed in the region of NW, in the District of Mountain Forests, between 1000 and 1700 m above sea level. In the Sierra de Medina, located in NE province of Tucuman, P. parlatorei grows together with Alnus acuminata Kunth forming mixed forests on the slopes, while in the lower areas, where the environment is less humid, is mixed with Chaco species. These forests have an interesting florula determined by the climatic and topographic characteristics of the mountain. The purpose of this study is to provide a list of species that grow spontaneously in them. The collections were made in 3 points altitude of this sector (1490, 1500 and 1540 m above sea level). A total of 213 species were recorded, distributed in 79 families. The best represented were Asteraceae (43 spp.), Solanaceae (12 spp.), Lamiaceae (11 spp.), Verbenaceae (9 spp.) and Fabaceae (7 spp.).
