Chromosome numbers in angiosperms of NW from Argentina I

Páez, Valeria de los A.; Aldo R. Andrada; María S. Caro. 2015. “Chromosome numbers in angiosperms of NW from Argentina I”. Lilloa 52 (2). In this paper chromosome studies in angiosperms that inhabit ecoregions of the Northwest of Argentina (NOA) were described. Somatic and gametic chromosome numbers, distribution, collection sites and backgrounds of 18 taxa are reported, belonging to the families: Calceolariaceae (Calceolaria lilloi, Calceolaria plectranthifolia, Calceolaria polyclada, Calceolaria teucrioides and Calceolaria umbellata), Commelinaceae: (Commelina benghalensis, Commelina erecta, Commelina erecta var. angustifolia f. hamipila, Commelina obliqua, Commelina tuberosa, Gibasis geniculata and Tinantia erecta), Orobanchaceae (Agalinis fiebrigii, Agalinis genistifolia and Castilleja lithospermoides) and Ranunculaceae (Clematis montevidensis. var. montevidensis, Clematis haenkeana and Halerpestes exilis). Previous chromosome counts for 6 of the taxas studied are unknown. In addition, in other 3 species this represent the first references of the somatic/gametic number for NOA.
