NUEVOS REPORTES DE LA FAMILIA ORCHIDACEAE PARA LA REGIÓN NORORIENTAL DE VENEZUELA, CON ÉNFASIS EN EL ESTADO SUCRE
COMPENDIOLa familia Orchidaceae está compuesta por más de 19000 especies, lo que lahace una de las familias de plantas vasculares más diversa. En Venezuela, estafamilia está representada por ca.1612 especies, la mayoría de éstas en laCordillera Andina y Guayana. En la región Nororiental del país (estadosAnzoátegui, Monagas y Sucre), hasta el momento, no se conoce un estimadodel número de especies de Orchidaceae existentes; sin embargo, se estánrealizando exploraciones que permitan conocer cuál es la realidad de esta familia.Este trabajo presenta nuevos registros de Orchidaceae para el Nororiente deVenezuela, con énfasis en el estado Sucre. Entre los años 2006 y 2007 serevisaron los herbarios UOJ, IRBR y VEN, también se realizaron exploracionesen 12 localidades. Se considera nuevo registro a aquellas especies de las queno existan muestras depositadas en VEN y no sean mencionadas en la literaturaconsultada para el estado Sucre o el resto de los estados del nororiente. Seencontraron 11 especies nuevas para el estado Sucre, de las que seis son nuevaspara el Nororiente: Beloglottis costaricensis (Rchb. f.) Schltr., Habenariaalata Hook, Ornithocephalus bonplandii Rchb. f., Pleurothallis velaticaulisRchb. f., Sauvetrea alpestris (Lindl.) Szlach., Sobralia sessilis Lindl. Se presentandescripciones breves y dibujos de algunas de las especies.ABSTRACTThe Orchidaceae comprises more than 19000 species, which make it one ofthe most diverse families of vascular plants. In Venezuela, this family is representby ca. 1612 species, most of them from Cordillera Andina and Guayana. In the Northwest region (states Anzoátegui, Monagas and Sucre), up to the present,the approximate number of existent species is not know; although explorationsto know the situation of the family are in course. This paper presents newreports of Orchidaceae for the Norwest of Venezuela, with emphasis on Sucrestate. Herbaria UOJ, IRBR and VEN were studied between 2006 and 2007.Field explorations were undertaken in 12 localities. In this paper, new report isspecie without samples in VEN and not mentioned for Sucre or the rest of thestates of the Norwest in the references. As a result, 11 species are new toSucre state, of these 6 are new to the Norwest: Beloglottis costaricensis(Rchb. f.) Schltr., Habenaria alata Hook, Ornithocephalus bonplandii Rchb.f., Pleurothallis velaticaulis Rchb. f., Sauvetrea alpestris (Lindl.) Szlach.,Sobralia sessilis Lindl. Additionally, short descriptions and line drawings arepresent for some species.
