Visiones globales y opciones transnacionales en la agenda exterior chilena con Estados Unidos : aproximación a un estudio de caso
Starting from a case study, this essay addresses the cosmopolitan views and preferences of local elites formed in North American academic centers in relation to Chile's foreign policy with the United States. An attempt is made to conceptually and analytically discuss some preliminary findings that show how globalization and the growing interdependence of international civil society may be influencing an interest of Chilean elites to influence public policies in Chile, particularly with regard to its international insertion. Thus, the transnational principles and values that guide these interest groups would be based on the educational links and interactions facilitated by cultural cooperation entities such as the Fulbright Commission. In this way, the influence exerted by the American academic and scientific community with their Chilean counterparts would have been functional for a more similar approach in the visions and cultural options between both countries.
