Handicapping the Teacher

This article identifies some of the factors that might constrain a teacher's effectiveness in motivating and facilitating learning, including: 1) teachers are subordinates, 2) teachers do not participate in decision making, 3) schools are rigid and resistant to change, 4) teachers are not assertive enough, and 5) the quality of the teacher's relationship with other stakeholders in the school
