A Personal construct approach to adult learning

With a shift towards lifelong education the teacher role is moved away from the 'narrational' approach. Particularly adult educators have been working towards the development of new teaching techniques for adult learning - stressing the notion of 'self-directedness' in adult learners. An appropriate model of cognitive processes which accounts for observed differences in individual perception is introduced as 'personal construct pyschology'. The 'constructs' broadly divided into 11 corollaries exist in every individual, absorbing, rejecting, conveying as feedback, etc., the ideas received by them. The teachers and the adult learners, by establishing a grid between them on the basis of their respective 'constructs' will be able to promote a better understanding of the subjects taught
