Different tolerance of two cultivars of Triticum turgidum L. to metribuzin

The effect of metribuzin was studied in wheat seedlings of two Triticum turgidum L. cultivars, Oscar and Nita, and compared with the response of two Triticum aestivum L. cultivars, TAM and Vona, with known tolerance to this herbicide. Metribuzin levels were determined in shoots of these wheat cultivars by gas-liquid chromatography with alkali flame-ioni-zation detection. Herbicide levels in shoots of tolerant cultivars were lower than those of the susceptible ones. Metribuzin content in plants decreased with time with differences according to wheat cultivar and herbicide dose. © 1990.
