Isern-Fontanet, Jordi Olmedo, Estrella Turiel, Antonio Ballabrera-Poy, Joaquim García-Ladona, Emilio Remote sensing Algerian basin Salinity 41e Congres de la Commission Internationale pour l’Exploration Scientifique de la Mer Méditerranée (CIESM), 12-16 September 2016, Kiel.-- 1 page, 1 figure The circulation of the Mediterranean Sea is dominated by the spread of fresh waters incoming from the Atlantic Ocean. Algerian eddies are accountable for the mixing between these newly entered waters and the saltier resident Mediterranean ones. New improvements in the processing of Soil Moisture and Ocean Salinity (SMOS) Level 2 (L2) data have allowed to produce new satellite-derived Sea Surface Salinity (SSS) maps able to capture, for the first time, the signature of Algerian eddies and track them in time. It has been shown that the capability to detect such vortices is stronger during winter Peer Reviewed 2018-03-20T10:23:44Z 2018-03-20T10:23:44Z 2016-09-12 2018-03-20T10:23:44Z informe técnico http://purl.org/coar/resource_type/c_18gh issn: 0373-434X 41st CIESM Congress Proceedings: 72 (2016) Rapport du 41e Congres de la CIESM: 72 (2016) http://hdl.handle.net/10261/162534 http://ciesm.org/online/archives/abstracts/pdf/41/ Sí none Mediterranean Science Commission Commission Internationale pour l'Exploration Scientifique de la mer Méditerranée
