Molecular diagnosis of the Coconut Lethal Yellowing Disease in Mozambique. Consultancy report : Mission 3 under the contract N° 01/MU/11

Since my previous appraisal mission to the MCA/FISP, which took place in November 2011, the Quelimane laboratory for the molecular diagnosis of Coconut Lethal Yellowing has received the rest of the large equipment and the consumables and enzymes needed for its proper operation. Nevertheless, the laboratory has encountered several difficulties: a major power cut, water leakage into the laboratory, and staff departures. During this mission, waterproofing and plumbing work was carried out in the laboratory. Most of the work is therefore complete. The consumables and enzymes received by the laboratory enabled us to successfully carry out all the stages necessary for CLY diagnosis, with some very good results. These good results indicate that the sampling protocols provided have been followed. Some additional protocols have been provided to fine-tune CLY diagnosis.
