Effet de la charge en fruits sur la croissance végétative de plusieurs variétés de manguier à l'île de la Réunion

Mango tree is an alternative fruit tree; despite the increased request it's an unattractive crop due to its low yield capacity. In order to export and diversify mango crop, the Cirad of Reunion Island decided to purchase scientific knowledge and elaborate technical solutions leading to the increase of yield and quality of mango tree. The hypothesis of a relation between vegetative growth and flowering includes a study of vegetative growth of mango tree. In this contexte our work deals with the study of fruits effect on vegetative growth of seven mango cultivars. Five trees per varieties are followed. Young fruits of two trees have been thinning on november 2003. The others have beared fruits up to maturity. We described reiteration and sequential branching: number o f new axes emitted, number of growth units per axes, and their morphometry (basis diameter, biomass, number of leaves and area leaf) and phenological caracterics. In general, fruit weight affected growth start of initial growth units. Among this growth units, the one witch have carried out fruits start off again with difficulty. Thinning trees have a more precocious vegetative growth then tree bearing in fruits. Vegetative axes of tree bearing in fruits and thinning tree contribuate in a largest way to emission of the biomass and area leaf. Suppression of carbon wells by thinning or after harvesting allows to start rapidly vegetative growth. This suggests a competition in carbon between reproductive and vegetative structures of tree.
