The CGIAR at Twenty-Five: Looking Back and Looking Forward
The Sir John Crawford Memorial Lecture delivered by Maurice Strong on October 28, 1996, during the commemoration of the twenty-fifth anniversary of the CGIAR at International Centers Week. Strong was introduced by Gelia Castillo of the Philippines, a member of the IPGRI board, and CGIAR veteran.Strong reviewed the history of the CGIAR, commented on its present, and posed issues for the future, with emphasis on the need to create sustainable food production systems. The document also includes the questions and answers that followed the lecture.
