Farewell, tick
With 1.5 million from the EU, the CARIFORUM Agricultural and Fisheries Programme based in Trinidad and Tobago and FAO are giving the final push to eradicating the Tropical Bont Tick in the English speaking Caribbean (See Spore 85, p 9). After good progress in the Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico and St Croix, mopping up operations are nearing their end in Barbados, St Kitts, Montserrat, Dominica and St Lucia. By the end of 2000, major efforts will be focussed on Nevis and Anguilla, and Antigua, where there is a large livestock population
