Изменчивость роста балтийского шпрота

Temporal and spatial variabilities in the Baltic sprat growth have been studied. Both, asymptotic length and weight of sprat, differ in the 1955 and 1975 year-classes, 11.85 cm and 9.58 g, and 13.78 cm and 15.80 g, respectively. These changes are likely to be caused by a marked decrease in sprat abundance in the years 1961-1986, and thereby by better feeding conditions. Seasonal changes in the length-weight ratio in the northern Baltic sprat are expressed in the following way: I quarter - W = 0.00003 L3.11901 II quarter - W = 0.00035 L2.63685 III quarter - W = 0.00066 L2.53153 IV quarter - W = 0.00006 L 3.03450 Clinal variability is observed in the parameters of the sprat linear growth and weight increase over the Baltic Sea areas: asymptotic values of length and weight decrease from southern areas to northern ones. The amplitude of temporal changes of the growth parameters is larger than of spatial ones. New detailed investigations should be carried out on the Baltic Sea sprat seasonal growth.
