Sur la prétendue existence du sprat dans les mers tunisiennes.

The first part of the work synthesizes studies, notably those of Pelissier (1853), De Fage and Ponzevera (1908) and Seurat (1934), which mentioned in the captures of Tunisian fisheries the Ouzef as the Sprat or Melette, as well as errors on identification of the main species of Clupeid. The second part was dedicated to the description of the Ouzef and its fishery in the Gulf of Gabes (Djerba-Ajim). The conclusion is that the Ouzef is a local appellation of Sadinella aurita mix with young anchovy and Argentine.
