Les Sciaenides, poissons typiques des eaux tropicales, se revelent peu abondants dans les eaux tunisiennes; les apports proviennent essentiellement de la peche cotiere; leur presence, particulierement plus importante dans le golfe de Gabes, confirmerait ainsi les affinites tropicales de la region maritime sud tunisienne.

The Sciaenidae, typical fishes of tropical waters, are not abundant in Tunisian waters; they are caught chiefly from inshore fishery; their occurence is almost more important in the bay of Gabes and so the tropical affinities of the Tunisian southern region could be confirmed.
