Ocean Loading Site Displacement around Japan.
Harmonic coefficients of ocean loading site displacement for eight major tidal components, Mz, S2, N2, K1, 01, P1 and Q1 are mapped out in and around Japan by using a software, GOTIC. Amplitude of the tidal displacement of Mz component in up-down direction is more than 2cm in Nansei Shoto. In general, M2, S2 and N2 components are large in the Southern Japan, while K1, 01, P1 and Q1 components are large in the coastal area along the Pacific Ocean. Precision of the harmonic coefficients presented here are estimated around 1 mm. Our result will enhance precision of crustal movement monitoring in and around Japan by using space geodetic techniques, especially GPS.
