Constatacao de Xylella fastidiosa em cafeeiro no Brasil

Xylella fastidiosa, the causal agent of variegated chlorosis of citrus (CVC) was identified in coffee plant, using the DIBA, ELISA, WESTERN BLOT and PCR tests. Infected coffee stems, always showed reduction of the internodes with little leaves at the end of the stems. Afterwards the little leaves fell down and the stems resembled a rod. This is the first report of the ocurrence of X. fastidiosa in coffee plant, in Brazil.
