Rooting of root suckers in indigenous species of Coffea

Rooting of root suckers of the three species (Coffea wightiana, C. travancorensis, C. bengalensis) was studied. Available root suckers were grown in pots containing jungle soil, compost and sand in 6:2:1 ratio. Rooting percentage of root suckers, number of primaries per rooted sucker, number of laterals per primary root and number of feeder roots per lateral were studied at the end of 100 days of observation during 1980. The results are reported in this note. The data revealed that rooting of root suckers in all the three species was very high and in the order of 72 to 100 percent. The primary, lateral and feeder roots also greater in number
