Themical weed control with Gramoxone (paraquat) or Gramoxone + Simazine was better than manual control as it was cheaper and gave higher yield without affecting cup quality. There was a saving of 80 in labour component of the cost and this labour could be used for important operations during the pre-and post-monsoon periods.
