Controlling the cocoa pod borer

Cocoa crop forecasts for 1988/89 published for every major producer in the world indicated that Malaysia would produce 255,000 metric tonnes to be ranked equal third in the world with Ghana. But this meteoric rise over the past half decade during which this South-East Asian nation has almost tripled its production and risen from seventh to third largest producer overtaking Nigeria, Cameroon and Ecuador in the process could be stopped dead in its tracks by the larva of a tiny moth that has increased in importance along with the country's cocoa crop.
