Mating types of Phytophthora palmivora in Malaysia

Mating type was determined for 56 cultures of Phytophthora palmivora from Hevea rubber, cacao, and other plants in different areas in Peninsular Malaysia. Thirty of these were A exponent 1 and 16 A exponent 2 types; the remaining 10 did not form oospores with either A exponent 1 or A exponent 2 cultures. The A exponent 1 type was predominant among Hevea isolates, whereas all of the cacao isolates were of the A exponent 2 type
