Geosystem monitoring and its realization in biosphere reserves

The concept of "geosystems monitoring" as it relates to biosphere reserves is discussed. The paper posits that functional activities in biosphere reserves as with other approaches to nature conservation should involve monitoring in a definite form, i.e. covering the status of natural ecosystems and their anbthropogenic transformation. However, due to the inadequate development of the techniques of geosystem monitoring, the application of the concept in ordinary natural reserves is limited. A more comprehensive system of geosystem environmental monitoring is proposed for development and realization in biosphere reserves. Such a high scientific level of work should result in the designation of the areas as "biosphere environmental stations".
