Unified river basin management
This paper will present the Miami Conservancy District not only in its traditional and historic flood control role, but also the additional responsibilities relegated to the District in associated land use, waste water treatment, ground water, and river corridor (river based recreation) undertakings. This paper will additionally indicate the benefit versus cost approach utilized by the District, its enabling Ohio legislation, accomphishments, and its ability to adapt to current and potential future demands. In addition, changing public objectives, relationships not only with the public but with many public bodies, both elctive and appointive, and the District's attention to, recognition of, and compliance with environmental mandates and concerns will be addressed. Finally, this paper will address the future possibilities and probabilities of District under-takings and its role in the future
