Manejo florestal no baixo amazonas
As a function of the country's energy politics accepted, the Mineracao Rio do Norte (MRN) through Florestas Rio Doce S.A. (FRDSA) developed research in forest area with the objective to obtain an efficient silvicultural system able to substitute the oil use in the drying of bauxite. Under these conditions and recognizing the forestry potential, the management study was installed in 1985 with the goal to product fuel-wood and sawmill in suitable forest management. In this essay are tested different level of forest exploration, and this paper reports the results obtained in logging activities and the increase in basal area (m2/ha), number of trees (N/ha) and number of species (S) at four years old (1985-1989).
