Production of monoclonal antibodies to bovine virus diarrhoea virus and their reactivity with selected pestivirus isolates

Three monoclonal antibodies against the NADL strain of BVDV were produced. These antibodies were characterized by indirect inmunofluorescent assay against 26 isolates of BVDV, 5 isolates of HCV and 4 isolates of BDV. Monoclonal antibody 4G8 reacted with all the BVDV isolates, but with none of the HCV or BDV isolates. This monoclonal antibody may therefore be useful in differential diagnosis of pestivirus infection in pigs. Although monoclonal antibodies 4F4 and 4H12 reacted with 7 and 11 BVDV isolates respectively, neither reacted with any of the HCV or BDV isolates
