Diseases

This chapter reviews certain infectious and parasitic diseases which have been the subject of recent investigation. The individual reviews were prepared by several contributors who are particularly familiar with the respective diseases. The diseases are presented in groups according to the main symptoms which they produce in the animal: fever, enteritis or pneumonia (bluetongue, foot and mouth disease, leptospirosis, paratuberculosis, pasteurellosis, pest of small ruminants); nervous symptoms (listeriosis, scrapie); alterations of the skin (poxes); mastitis; abortion (chlamydiosis, salmonellosis, vibriosis); complex symptoms (caseous lymphadenitis, arthritis-encephalitis, mycoplasmosis), parasites (blood parasites, ectoparasites, helminths, coccidiosis, others) and anthropozoonoses (brucellosis, Q-fever)
