Philippe Mayaux
Philippe Mayaux is a French visual artist born in 1961 in Roubaix. He lives and works in Montreuil, France.Active since the early 1990s, he follows in the dual tradition of Marcel Duchamp and Francis Picabia, creating works with garish colors and often erotic or sexual undertones.
He won the Marcel Duchamp Prize in 2006, recognized "for the originality of his work, its joyful ambiguity, and the multiple meanings of his art" (according to the official statement by ADIAF), and was awarded a prize of €35,000.
